Working It Out in the In Between

Today I’m joining Lisa-Jo Baker at Five Minute Friday.  The goal is to write for 5 minutes without editing.  Here we go!

Start

The road I’ve travelled has brought me to Southern California– a prime destination for most, but as for me and my family it is our “In Between.”  Like the Israelites stuck in the Wilderness/Desert between Egypt and the Promised Land, our wilderness is SoCal (not bad, huh?).

Encouraged to not waste my time in the here in the “in between,” I have chosen to use the time to get things worked out.  Whereas I was on a spiritual plateau before arriving in SoCal, I’m now “working out my salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12, sanctification). I am fanning into flame (defining and using) the gifts God has given me (2 Tim. 1:6), and all the while “being confident in this, that he who began a good work in [Me] will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil 1:6)

  1. That is so great. I, too, am learning to appreciate the in-between time and use it for good.

Sounds like you’re right where you need to be with the right heart attitude! I would personally hate living back in So Cal, we live in Nor Cal & it’s getting more populated & our world is turning into medicinal marijuana land! Dangerous place to live sometimes, but by the grace of God, we are where we need to be.

I hear ya. It does sound like you’re where you need to be and that you have the right attitude about the in between. I like the verses you pulled together. Amazing how God’s Word just keeps on speaking in all kinds of formats, woven together or standing apart.
    HE is amazing.
    Enjoyed your post, thanks. Jenn

What an awesome use of this time “in the wilderness”!

May your wilderness turn into an oasis as you seek the Lord and serve others (Christ) with the gifts you are exploring and developing. I for one have learned a lot from you in your time in California and I have been on the receiving end of many of your great acts of service 🙂 In fact I may not have ever had the privilege of knowing you had you not decided to get involved right away when you arrived in your ‘wilderness.’
