FROGS?!

I wasn’t asking for and I wasn’t seeking– a sign.  I was wrestling: my will versus God’s will, my wants versus His provision, my sense of justice versus His grace.

Everyone was out of the house– I had room to wrestle.   Praying, pondering, talking, worshiping, teaching, writing.   Lots of inner struggle and still not arriving at the answer I needed– the peace I desired.

With eyes sparkling, voice full of bubbly excitement, fresh from a camping trip; my youngest presents me with a water bottle filled with pebbles, creek water, and three tadpoles.

Here’s your sign……….

Friendly banter on Facebook about the tadpoles reveals the acronym, FROG–

Fully Relying on God.

An answer!  None of my personal angst will make anything better or more perfect.  My self focus won’t convince anyone that my ideas are worth pursuit.  Love like Jesus loves, employ my gifts for Him with abandon, be thankful for His provision, experience His grace, and extend it to others.  Peace.

P.S.  “Here’s your sign…” is a phrase made popular by Jeff Foxworthy.  Thank you, Phyllis Sewell for the inspiration!

  1. Cheli that was awesome- short and sweet, but oh so full of truth. And who’d have ever thought Frogs could teach us a spiritual lesson? It’s gotta be from the Lord. Thanks for ’employing’ your gifts of writing for the rest of us.
